Perched on the sheltered slopes of Skiddaw above Keswick, Underscar is a five-star self-catering cottage resort of 25 properties converted from a 19th-century coach house and walled garden. The spa sits at the heart of the estate, looking out over Derwentwater and the northern fells, and serves as a centrepiece for guests staying in the one, two, and three-bedroom cottages. The 13-metre indoor heated swimming pool is the main draw, a spacious and beautifully designed facility with contemporary pillars and natural light, alongside a hydrotherapy jacuzzi with massage jets set against deep blue mosaic tiling.
The thermal facilities extend to a eucalyptus-infused sauna, a steam room, and a dedicated relaxation room for post-treatment recovery. A Technogym-equipped gym and bistro serving drinks and afternoon tea complete the on-site offering. Treatment rooms are softly lit and tranquilly appointed, delivering therapies from Germaine de Capuccini, NEOM Organics, and The Gel Bottle across massage, facials, body treatments, and nail care. The walkers leg massage is a popular choice after time spent on the Skiddaw fells above the estate.
Spa access is complimentary for all cottage guests throughout their stay, with no time restrictions and no advance booking required for the facilities. Day visitors are welcome with a range of packages to choose from. All spa facilities, treatments, and packages are for guests aged 16 and over.
